Favorite Things

 I have had a few people ask what were favorite things in the boxes.

 

There is not one specific thing.  I think well rounded boxes are the best option. 

Sadly some boxes were half full.  Or just had candy.

Here are a few things that the children were proud to show off.

Hats 

 

 

 

and sunglasses

Dolls were a favorite among all girls!

And both genders liked stuffed animals. Many hugs and squeezes were given when they found the soft stuffed animals in their box.

 

Anything that made music was a hit.

These two boys pictured below were so excited about their new t-shirts!

I wish I would have a video of them.  It was so neat to see.

 

And all boys enjoyed cars and monster trucks were a big hit as well.

We saw so many boys eyes get big when they saw cars!

and planes.

Balloons are always fun.

Soap and toothpaste also received shrieks of joy.  (Canadians can not pack toothpaste in boxes due to custom regulations)  I remember so many kids eyes lighting up from those two items.

Friday Favorites-clothing

Clothing is a great item to add to your box!

It is something we take for granted but can be an answer to prayer for the child receiving it.  Shop at the end of season for the best prices on clothing

Friday Favorite- Skipping Rope

Add a skipping rope to your boxes!  They provide hours of fun:)

Add a cap to your box.

Friday Favorites- baseball glove and ball.

I heard and was trying to find the story of a boy who was praying for a baseball glove.  And was so excited when he opened his box and found a brand new baseball glove and ball.   Ever since hearing this story I have been on the lookout for gloves.

I was thrilled to find these on clearout at Wal-mart. They are for younger boys,  I am still praying for gloves for older boys.

One of my favorite things to add are stickers!  

I loved them as a little girl and are still drawn to them.

These I found at Michaels on clearance for .20 cents.

Friday Favorites-reusable bags

There are so many things that we take for granted.

Including bags.  We have all kinds of bags.

We recieve plastic bags at the grocery store. 

 If I remember to take along my cloth bags, I use those.

I have a few purses of different sizes, these are my favorite bags.

We have bags to pack clothes in.

So why add a reusable bag to your box.

It could help a child carry his or her books to school.

Carry items to or from market and many other possibilities.

There are lots of tutorials to make your own.

Friday Favorites- Cars

Add a car to boys boxes, no matter what the age!  Every boy deserves a car or 2.

Friday Favorites-

Clean water from a tap in your home, is a luxury 3rd world countries only dream off.  So why not add a water bottle to your box.  This could enable the child to carry around water, or even enable them to carry more water to their home.  I take off the lid and add items into the bottle, not letting any space be wasted.

I love adding marbles to boys 5-9 and 10-14 boxes.

When I asked my sister, who works with children in Zambia, if they prefered the smaller or the larger marbles, she said most of them had never seen marbles.  They play with stones.  I know my boys love playing with marbles, they make up all kinds of games with them.  And I'm sure the children receiving marbles have lots of fun with them!

Friday Favorites- Stuffed Animals!

Every child needs something to love!

I love adding a soft cuddly stuffed animal to boxes of all ages!

Yes even 10-14. 

Their culture is different than here,

 and 10-14 year olds love receiving stuffed animals.

Something special to call their own.

Friday Favorites

 I loved skipping as a little girl.

You can make up all kinds of games.

1 simple rope is hours of fun!

So I love adding skipping ropes to my boxes.

My favorites are these from dollarama. Last year they came in packs of 4 for $1.25. But they are not always available.  You have to keep your eyes out for them.  I finally found them again...in the party section.  This year they're 6 for $2.00.  They are good quality and work well.  I also love the rainbow of colors!
