Thrift Store Treasures

I love to spend time browsing through thrift stores.  You never know what you'll find.  My most recent trip landed some shoe box finds.
I love to include either a stuffed animal or doll in a shoe box.  Something to cuddle and love.  Dolls can be pricey and need to be small enough to fit into a box.  I came across these three:
Teddy bear - 25 cents, larger doll - 50 cents, curly haired doll - $1.

Other toys I discovered: skipping ropes - 85 cents and a larger car with opening doors - $1.30
These toys were all in "like new" condition, or I wouldn't have bought them.  If you look carefully enough you can find all sorts of items in great condition.  Perfect for shoe boxes.

A Few Weeks to Go!!

It's almost that time of year!  Time to pull together all our projects and finds over the year and put them into boxes.  The collection date this year is November 17th - 23rd.  If you're wondering where to drop off your boxes, click here to find a collection centre near you.
Last weekend I hit a local thrift store and managed to snag 26 new skipping ropes during their buy one, get one free toy event.  Yahoo!  There's still time to snag a few deals before the collection date, so keep shopping!!

Felt!

I've been loving felt!
There is so much you can do with it.  And so easy to work with.
I had been praying that I would find felt at my thrift store.
And today was the day.
I picked up all this felt for $2.00 at my local thrift store.
Woohoo.
I was happy with my 4 small pieces of felt for $2.00 yesterday.
But this is icing on the cake!

I also found 5 brand new toothbrushes in the package for .25 cents each.
A bunch of other goodies.
God is Good!

Thrift Store Finds- Crayons

Thrift stores are great for picking up items for shoe boxes.
You just have to have time to look around, and not have anything specific in mind;)  I was excited to find a few packages of these brand new crayons.  And for .20 cents, the price was right.

Thrift Store Finds

I enjoy the hunt of searching thrift stores for OCC deals.
Today I visited our local MCC.  And these are a few of things I found.
2 waterbottles- .20 cents each
Ardene's hair elastics- .40 cents
3 pkgs of stickers for .20 cents.

For a grand total of $1.00.
Oh I forgot, I also found a package of clothes pins for .35 cents.
I'm looking forward to dividing them for this.

Great deals are all around us.

It's one week until Collection Week!
How exciting!  I finished up my boxes at home yesterday.
I just had to add my notes to my boxes.
Now I'm getting ready for our packing party on Sunday.
And I need to finish shopping for that.
And God always provides.

You never know where you are going to find a great deal.

Check online.
In our area we have a swap/buy on Facebook.
A friend sent me a message with a heads up on these this morning.
I just bought these 7 bags of brand new balls.
With 50 in each bag  for $1.00 a bag!

Thrift store are also another favorite place of mine.
Last week I picked up these puppets.
There were 16 in the bag, plus 2 other big pieces of new felt.
They need some eyes, which we will attach yet, and a mouth.
But they were 16 for $1.00!

It's also great to have friends looking out for deals for you.
I'm thankful my friend sent me a message regarding the balls.
Friends can also be a great resource:)

Thrift Store Finds- Stuffed Animals

Garage Sales and Thrift Stores are great places to find stuffed animals for your boxes.
I bought these for .25 cents each.
I just imagine some child opening up their box and hugging these.
Well worth .25 cents!

Thrift Store Finds

I am always on the hunt for OCC items.
And one of the places I often look are thrift stores.
There are so many new items people give away.
Treasures just waiting to be found.
This week I found this for .50 cents.
I figure it will be good for 2 older girl boxes.
